Built by someone who builds networks
The story behind Drift Asia
Drift Asia began with two obsessions: telecoms and travel. After more than twenty years in the industry : VoIP, SMS, international airtime, IP transit, and the subsea cables that physically carry the internet across oceans : I had seen how connectivity is actually built, fibre by fibre, cable by cable.
In parallel I travelled. And at every new airport the problem was the same: find a working local SIM. A queue, a language barrier, an opaque plan, a card that did not always work. A struggle for something that should be simple.
When eSIM matured, the two worlds collided. Living across Southeast Asia since 2020, I hit that traveller problem from the inside, every border crossing. So I built Drift Asia: networks tested on the ground, not rephrased from press releases : real measurements logged across Asian destinations, from Thai islands to Himalayan trailheads, by someone who builds and travels the networks he writes about.
The philosophy
No needless jargon. No hidden plan. No nasty surprise on arrival. Just an eSIM that works, activated in two minutes before you board, with real support if something goes wrong.
Every destination is chosen and documented with care. The guides reflect genuine knowledge of local networks, partner operators and real ground conditions : checked against live data and field observation, not copied from supplier marketing.
