Country snapshot

What matters before buying

Market note

Strong nationwide coverage; cheap competitive market.

Coverage reality

Israel is a global 5G leader: 217.5 Mbps median 5G download, ranked 10th in the world (Opensignal). The country is small and the three main operators (Cellcom, Partner, Hot Mobile) cover it comprehensively. Coverage is excellent across Tel Aviv, Jerusalem, Haifa, the Galilee, the Dead Sea and the Negev. The main tourist sites are all well covered. Coverage in the Palestinian territories is separate and not guaranteed.

Local SIM reality

Typical local SIM: $15 to 30 USD for a tourist SIM with data. Israel is a higher-cost market.. Usually sold at Ben Gurion International Airport (Tel Aviv) arrivals and operator stores in the cities. Passport required.. Israel is small and well covered. A travel eSIM is the convenient no-queue option; a local SIM gives better data value for longer stays. Note that coverage in the Palestinian territories (West Bank, Gaza) is separate and different; your Israeli SIM may have limited or no service there.

Bottom line

For most Israel trips, a travel eSIM is the easy pick: land connected at Ben Gurion, no queue. For longer stays, a local SIM gives better data value in this higher-cost market.

Networks

Our eSIM local operators

Partner (formerly Orange Israel)

Strong coverage and competitive visitor plans. 5G in urban areas. The other main full-coverage operator alongside Cellcom.

Hot Mobile

Third major operator with good urban coverage and budget data plans. Slightly less reach in rural and desert areas than Cellcom or Partner.

Decision

Travel eSIM or local SIM?

Choose a travel eSIM

you want to land at Ben Gurion connected without a counter visit for a short Tel Aviv or Jerusalem trip.

Consider a local SIM

you stay longer and want better data value per dollar, since Israel is a higher-cost market and local plans give better rates for extended stays.
